MBD and Manufacturing Tools
3:50
This demonstration showcases PTC’s Model-Based Definition (MBD) and Closed-Loop Manufacturing workflow, illustrating how engineering information is created in CAD, transformed into manufacturing structures, connected to process planning, deployed to digital work instructions, and refined through manufacturing feedback. The walkthrough follows a manufacturing lifecycle that begins with updating MBD information in Creo, structuring product and manufacturing BOMs in Windchill, creating manufacturing process plans, publishing digital work instructions to ThingWorx Connected Work Cell, executing production tasks on the shop floor, collecting quality and process data, and feeding results back into engineering and manufacturing systems for continuous improvement. The workflow stages are highlighted as Define → Structure → Process → Deploy → Refine, demonstrating a fully connected digital thread across engineering, manufacturing engineering, and production operations.
